My Story
Let me share with you a little story – it’s about money, dreams, and a journey to financial clarity.
You see, with an MBA in Corporate Finance tucked under my belt, the concept of managing my finances was always on my radar.
Investing for the future? Check.
Saving for the kids’ education? Check.
That dream car and cozy home? Double-check.
But here’s the thing – till about a decade back, the options were limited, and I did my best to navigate through the maze of investments and insurance with the advice and the tools that I had.
My portfolio – it was a colorful mix of everything the bank “relationship managers” could talk me into. Moneyback policies with more laugh than coverage, ULIPs, a sprinkle of direct stocks, and the good old Fixed Deposits. Each sales pitch felt like a one-way ticket to commission city for these so-called “advisors” and “relationship managers”. My gut screamed conflict of interest, but the options seemed scarce.
I got weary of the endless parade of Mutual Funds, Life Insurance, Medical Policies, and whatnot being thrown my way. It was like these relationship managers had a sixth sense for when to pounce, all without knowing a thing about me, my family, my life goals or where I wanted to steer my life. I started to push back, saying “No” more often than not.
Around 2015, I decided it was time to get more methodical about my personal financial planning. I was on the lookout for a guide, a mentor, someone who could help me on this quest. But all I found were more sales pitches dressed up as advice. I knew there had to be a better, a more scientific approach out there.
Then, like a beacon, I stumbled upon the Certified Financial Planning certification. The CFP is the most desired and respected global certification for those seeking to demonstrate their commitment to competent and ethical financial planning practice. The ethical practices and the fiduciary role were a game-changer and key attraction for me. I enrolled into the self-paced study program and balancing with my work, I was able to complete this certification in under a year in 2016. The knowledge and process that I understood helped my recast my personal finances, with each of its part working in harmony towards my life goals.
With my continued education and subsequent readings, I decided to share some of my journey with you through this website. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your financial strategy, I hope some this will help you chart a course to a future you can look forward to.
So, happy reading and let’s talk about turning your financial dreams into a reality. Because in the end, it’s not just about the money – it’s about living the life you’ve always imagined.
